Deadline pushed back again

ADMINISTRATOR Brendan Guilfoyle has confirmed the deadline for interested parties to prove they have sufficient funds to take over Crystal Palace has been pushed back to March 26.

Guilfoyle had set a deadline of March 12 for those chasing a deal to deposit £10 million into a UK solicitor's bank account. However, as we predicted in last Friday's Croydon Advertiser, that deadline was not met and has now been put back a further two weeks.

It is the second time Guilfoyle has been forced to push back the deadline after originally setting it for February 26.

The administrator told the club's official web-site: "We have a number of individuals who have put forward an interest but at this stage no firm proof of funding has come forward.

"Therefore it has been agreed to extend a further fortnight to give some more time to accommodate those who want to pursue their interest in purchasing Crystal Palace FC."

Guilfoyle told the Advertiser that there were now five parties in the hunt to takeover - three "very visible" groups, one US based company and one European based company.

The three visible parties are thought to include a consortium led by Palace fan Steve Parish and another group headed by local businessman Winston Mckenzie.
